Milestone (Sedbergh 5), Narthwaite


This old milestone is located on Cautley Road (A683), about ½ mile north of the Cross Keys Temerance Inn in Cautley, and south-east of Narthwaite. The milestone is at the northern edge of Sedbergh Civil Parish, close to Narthwaite which is in Ravenstonedale Civil Parish; prior to 1974 it was the county border between the West Riding of Yorkshire and (old) Westlmorland. The milestone is Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England. The milestone appears to be missng , based on Google Street View of September 2024. :( There is another milestone, possibly older, a short distance to the south.
