Lough House, Alnwick

Lough House is located to the east of Alnwick, accessed via an underpass under the AI road. The original 18th century Lough House was recorded a farm bordernig the River Aln containing 133 acreas of land (Tate, 1886). The lough (lake) it took its name from was long since drained. The Northumberland Farm index for 1860 (Northumberland Archives) records Lough House (one of many houses with this name in Northumberland), under the township and ancient parish of Alnwick.
