Leeholme and Coundon Community Centre


Leeholme and Coundon Community Centre is located on the corner of Windsor Terrace and Leeholme Road in Leeholme. The centre originally opended in 1957 as Leasingthorne Colliery Welfare Hall - paid for from donations by miners from Leasingthorne Colliery. A replica of the community centre is being created at the new 1950's village at Beamish open-air museum due to open in the spring of 2019.

ABOUT US

Co-Curate is a project which brings together online collections, museums, universities, schools and community groups to make and re-make stories and images from North East England and Cumbria. Co-Curate is a trans-disciplinary project that will open up 'official' museum and 'un-officia'l co-created community-based collections and archives through innovative collaborative approaches using social media and open archives/data.
