Keld Chapel

Keld Chapel is located at the north east end of Keld, between Keld Lane and the access track to Thornship. The first documentary evidence of the chapel is a record of a christening here in 1672, but the building may be significantly older. Towards the end of the 17th century the chapel ceased to be used for religious purposes and was converted into a house. The building was repaired in 1897 and during the 20th century it was given to the National Trust. Keld Chapel is a Scheduled Monument and Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England.
