Hawkshead Esthwaite Primary School is located on Main Street in Hawkshead. It has roughly 70 pupilis aged 4-11. The school has an adjacent outdoor environmental classroom known as "Fletcher’s Field". The school was previously known as Hawkshead Esthwaite County Primary School. In the distant past there was also a Grammar School in Hawkshead, attended by the poet William Wordsworh, now a museum. Park House, built 1863, was also a former school in Hawkshead.
