Gateway adjoining Capella Extra Portas
The Gateway (a Gothic carriage arch and separate pedestrian gateway) to the abbey precinct of Furness Abbey, is located on Abbey Approach, Barrow-in-Furness. The gateway is probably 16th Century and is attached to the Capella Extra Portas (ruined chapel). The gateway is on the site of the original outer gate of the Abbey, and thought to have been built using medieval material.[1] The Gateway is Grade I listed on the National Heritage List for England.
