Dryderdale

Dryderdale Hall is located off Shull Bank (west side), about 2 miles north-west of Hamsterley in County Durham. It is dated 1879, designed in a French Renaissance style by Alfred Waterhouse and built for the wealthy banker, Alfred Backhouse of Pillmore Hall, Darlington. The building is Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England. The fountain, located 6 metres north of the hall, is seperately Grade II listed. Dryderdale Hall was used as a location in the film Get Carter, which starred Michael Caine. Shortly after filming, in 1974, a major fire badly damaged the interior of the hall; it was subsequently restored.

Dryderdale Lodge is located off Schull Bank, about ½km south-east of Dryderale Hall. Now a private house, this was the the entrance lodge to Dryderdale Hall, built in c.1879 by Alfred Waterhouse. The former lodge is a Grade II listed building.

Dryderdale Farm is located just off Shull Bank (east side) and is about a ½km north-east of Dyderdale Hall.

Dryderdale Beck flows through the grounds of Dryderdale Hall and continues east to join Harthope Beck.
