Drinking Fountain, Cambo


A carved granite drinking fountain in Cambo, built c.1880 as part of Sir Charles Trevelyan's remodelling of the village. The fountain has a life-size sculpture of dolphin with a tap in the dolphin's mouth and an iron cup on chain. The fountain has the inscription: 'FVTVRI HAVD IMMEMOR OEVI' ('Not unmindful of future generations'). The Trevelyan family arms have dolphin supporters.
