Dotland Park Farmhouse

The farmhouse at Dotland Park was originally a hunting lodge, built in c.1500 by the Priors of Hexham, who had a deer park here. The building was refenestrated and an outshut built in the late 18th /early 19th century. The outshut was heightened and other alterations were made to the building in 1907. Heraldry suggests the hunting lodge was built by Thomas Smithson (Prior from 1491-1524), although fabric from an earlier medieval building may have been incorporated. In 1654 it served as a Baptist meeting house, one of the earliest in the North of England.[1] The building is Grade II* listed on the National Heritage List for England.
