Colville Memorial Fountain, Great North Road
The Colville Memorial Fountain is located by the Town Moor, at the junction of the Great North Road and Forsyth Road in Newcastle. It is a small memorial drinking fountain with a circular basin. Set within a Gothic arch there is an inscribed tablet dedicated to the memory of Edwin Dodd Colville, and was erected in his memory by his sister in 1889. Colville was a coal-fitter with a business in the Exchange Buildings, on the Quayside in Newcastle, from 1879 to 1886. The memorial is thought to have once rested against a building, so this is probably not its original location. The memorial is on the Local List of buildings of Local Architectural or Historic Interest ('Local List') for Newcastle.
