Church of St. Cuthbert, Holme St. Cuthbert

The Gothic style parish church at Holme St Cuthbert was built in 1845. It was initially a chapel of ease to St Mary's at Cultram Abbey. Then, in 1857, Holme St Cuthbert became a separate ecclesiastical parish. The church was originally built with a bell-cote, which was replaced in 1874  by a wooden spire. However, in 1919 a storm damaged the spire which had to be demolished. It was replaced by the current stone tower in c.1924.
