Causeway to Holy Island
Lindisfarne is a tidal island and the long road causeway is flooded twice a day by the sea, when the tide is in. Crossing times are available at indisfarne.org.uk and northumberland.gov.uk (see the safety information on these sites). The road causeway was constructed in 1954. The Pilgrim's Way is the historic route to walk to the island.
