Captain Cook Pub, Durham St, Middlesbrough

The Captain Cook was a public house on Durham Street in the Middlehaven area of Middlesbrough. The pub, named after Captain James Cook, designed in a Jacobethan style, by Robert Moore, was built in 1893. It closed on 30th June 2010, and had been one of Middlesbrough's longest trading public houses. The Captain Cook featured on Auf Wiedersehen Pet, when the crew used the pub for Oz's wake, and made it their local while they dismantled the Transporter Bridge. Middlesbrough Council now own the building, which is Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England.
