Bunkers Hill (farmhouse), Greystoke

Bunkers Hill Dairy is located off the B5288 road, about 1 mile south-east of Greystoke and 3 miles north-west of Penrith. The farmhouse here dates from the 18th century. It was built to commemorate the Battle of Bunkers Hill in the American War of Independence and there is an inscripton on the buildings front wall: "BUNKERS HILL JUNE 17TH 1775". It was built for the 11th Duke of Norfolk, who was a supporter of the American cause, with later additions dated and inscribed HCH 1890 (Henry Charles Howard).[1] The farmhouse is Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England.
