Broomhouse (Denwick)

Broom House (aka Broomhouse) is located about 1 mile north of Alnwick and 1 mile west of the village of Denwick. It is by the junction of The Peth (road) and the B6341 (the old A1 Great North Road); the roundabout is known as the Broomhouse Roundabout. Broom House (the farmhouse) is located by the junction and the farm and cottage is a short distance north-west of this. Whellan's directory of 1855 lists Broom House under the township of Abbey Lands in the ancient parish of Alnwick, and the farmer at that time was Robert Clark.[1] Today, Broomhouse is part of Denwick Civil Parish. The Old Stables Tea Room, by the farmhouse opened in 2013. Malcolm's Cross is located to the south of Broomhouse. There is also an old milepost by the roadside.

Note: this is one of several places named Broomhouse in Nothumberland.
