Black Burn (trib. of of Hartley Burn)

Black Burn arises east of Cold Fell and 2.1 km south-west of High Midgeholme, the burn joins Thore Gill to form Hartley Burn which goes on to discharge in the River South Tyne. Black Burn is about 4km long and has several tributaries including Black Sike and Penanrick Sike.

Rather confusingly, also within the Upper South Tyne catchment area, there is second river called Black Burn.
