Bellbank, nr Stapleton
Bellbank is a farm in Cumbria, located about 8 miles north of Brampton and 1 mile south-east of the village of Roadhead. The farm is situated by the White Lyne, close to where it is joined by Whitberry Burn. Historically, the wider area formed Belbank township in the ancient parish of Stapleton. The township included several farms and extended as far north as Dodgsontown and the Black Lyne. A lead mine near Dodgsonstown was recorded in the 1860's. In 1866, Bellbank became a civil parish. This was abolished in 1934 and absorbed into Stapleton Civil Parish.
BELBANK, a township, in the parish of Stapleton, union of Longtown, Eskdale ward, E. division of Cumberland, 9 miles (N.) from Brampton; containing 124 inhabitants.

Not to be confused with Belbank township in the ancient parish of Bewcastle, which was also in Cumberland and in Longtown Poor Law Union. It is uncertain, but presumably this was the same township, but spread over two parishes.
