Art Deco bus station and Clock Tower

The distinctive Art Deco style bus station with shelters and central clock tower are located at The Front in Seaton Carew. They were built in 1938, designed by Thomas Mowbray Stonehouse, and the shelters are notable as being amongst the first curved structures built from reinforced concrete. The clock tower, bus shelters and public toilets were renovated in 2017-2018, as part of a wider revitalisation project by Hartlepool Borough Council, part funded by the national Coastal Communities Fund. This included structural repairs and repaving, also bulbs were planted in the grassed area in front of the shelters. The bus station and clock tower are Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England.
