Allenheads Hall

Allenshead Hall is a country house, built in 1847 by E.B. Lamb for Thomas Sopwith, engineer and mine agent to the Beaumont family. Some sources indicate it was built in 1854.[1] The hall is located to the south east of the village of Allenheads.  Rather than having traditional rosebeds the gardens were decoraded with mounds of purple fluorspar and white quarz crystals from the mines below![2] The Hall is Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England.[3]
