46 Main Street, Cockermouth
No. 46 Main Street, Cockermouth is a former bank, dating from the early 19th century. The building currently (at 2023) is divided; No. 46a is Calisa Spa (Thai massage) and 46 is a cafe, with a sign for Wendy's Hairdressers via an entrance on High Sand Lane. The building was originally the National Provincial Bank, becoming NatWest in 1970. In 1976 a planning application was approved for conversion to both a retail shop and a doctor's surgery.[1] Over time, no. 46 has hosted several businesses; recently it was Wild Zucchinis (now on Station Street) and previously Oasis (sandwich shop), The Hungry Caterpillar, Munchiez, Hartleys Ice Cream Parlour, Lakeland Aesthetics; Babycakes, and Coffee & Cream (cafe). The building is Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England.
