39 & 41, Low Friar Street
Nos. 39 and 41, Low Friar Street in Newcastle dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century. Constructed with English garden wall bond brick, the building is located on the junction of Low Friar Street and Fenkle Street. Originally, a house, it was later a shop and then cafe. Photos show the building to be 'John B. Bowes Ltd', Stationers and Printers (in 1978), then 'Transformation' (in 2001), and 'Bangkok Cafe' (in 2013), and 'I Noodle' chineese resturant, with flats to rent above (in 2018). From December 2022, the building has hosted 'Ngon Cafe', a Vietnamese resturant. Nos. 39-41 Low Friar Street is a Grade II listed building on the National Heritage List for England.
