National:

  • 31st January - the first two cases of COVID-19 in the UK are confirmed
  • 23rd March - Prime Minister announces, via TV broadcast, new strict rules under which the public must stay at home, except for certain "very limited purposes", such as essential shopping and outdoor exercise once each day. 

In Northern England:

By the 100th day of lockdown (30th June) there had been 3,605 deaths in the North East and Cumbria due to coronavirus (COVID-19), including 1,802 deaths in hospital and 1,629 deaths in care homes. (BBC Look North).

Co-Curate is a project which brings together online collections, museums, universities, schools and community groups to make and re-make stories and images from North East England and Cumbria. Co-Curate is a trans-disciplinary project that will open up 'official' museum and 'un-officia'l co-created community-based collections and archives through innovative collaborative approaches using social media and open archives/data.
