Wheatley Hill Heritage Centre and Parish Rooms

Wheatley Hill Parish Rooms and Heritage Centre is situated in the Cemetery grounds at Wheatley Hill. The building was originally a chapel of rest, which was opened by Miners’ leader, Peter Lee, in 1907. It was used to hold funerals until the late 1950's. In 2002, the building was renovated by the Parish Council and a group of interested people from the Wheatley Hill Partnership; coming together to form The Heritage Society. The Centre provides an insight into life in a mining village in about 1919.
