Waterhouses Railway Station (1877 - 1964)

Waterhouses Railway Station was located at the end of Station Avenue and Station Road in Esh Winning. The passenger station was opened in 1877 by the North Eastern Railway, on the Deerness Valley Railway line. Though the station closed to passengers in 1951, the railway is still evident in the street names (Station View, Station Road and Station Avenue) and the Deerness Valley Railway Path, which follows the former railway line.
