War Memorial

The War Memorial for the Borough of Wallsend is located off Archer Street.  It is a tall granite obelisk topped with a bronze angel of victory. The panel on the South of the memorial commemorates the dead of First World War and has an inscription on the step those who gave their lives in the Second World War. There is an inscription at the top of the plinth: "AT THE GOING DOWN OF THE SUN AND IN THE MORNING WE WILL REMEMBER THEM".[1] The memorial is Grade 2 listed on the National Heritage List for England.
