War Memorial outside St Anthony of Egypt Church, Walker


There is a war memorial on Belmont Street in Walker, outside the Church of St Anthony of Egypt. The memorial, by Beall of Newcastle, was unveiled on 19 July 1921 by Major J.G. Leathart MC and dedicated by the vicar, Rev. H.A. Hand. It commemorates 24 parishoners who died in the First World War, and a further 51 who served and returned. The memorial is Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England.
