War Memorial
The war memorial in Kirkby Lonsdale is located In the churchyard of St Mary's Church, near Queens Square. It is a Celtic cross set on a square shaft, plinth, with four steps. The memorial was unveiled on the 6th of June 1921, by Lord Henry Cavendish Bentinck MP.[1] It commemorates 41 local servicemen who lost their lives in the First World War. Later, the names of 12 local men who died in the Second World War, were added to the monument.
