War Memorial, Brignall

The war memorial stands in St Mary's churchyard in Brignall. The memorial cross is inscribed with the names of 5 local men who lost their lives in the First World War.

ERECTED TO THE MEMORY OF THOSE WHO
AT THE CALL OF THE KING AND COUNTRY
LEFT ALL THAT WAS DEAR TO THEM
ENDURED HARDNESS AND DANGER
AND FINALLY PASSED OUT OF THE SIGHT OF
MEN BY THE PATH OF DUTY AND SELF SACRIFICE
GIVING UP THEIR OWN LIVES THAT OTHERS
MIGHT LIVE IN FREEDOM
1914 - 1918
