The Red Lion Inn, Hawkshead

The Red Lion is an inn and public house on Main Street in Hawkshead. The building is thought to date from at least the 17th century (some sources say it was a 15th century coaching inn), but was refaced in the 19th century. In the eves of the building are two corbels; one in form of a man with pig, the other a man with bagpipes. The Red Lion is a Grade II listed building on the National Heritage List for England. The annexe to the inn, in the Red Lion Yard, is a former 18th century house, and is separately Grade II listed.
