The Dock Museum
The Dock Museum is located off North Road in Barrow-in-Furness, located by the Walney Chanel and to the north of the Royal Port of Barrow. The museum itself is built over a historic Graving dry dock which was built in 1872. The museum is free to visit and has galleries to explore the history of the people and industries of the Barrow-in-Furness area, with changing exhibitions, gift shop and café. Outside the museum has a sea themed playground, picnic tables, sculpture, lifeboat and views of the Walney Channel. The museum's history goes back to 1907, moving to it's present location, which opened on the 2nd of May, 1994.
