Spennymoor at War

During the First World War the Illustrated Chronicle published photographs of soldiers and sailors from Newcastle and the North East of England. These have been made available by Newcastle Libraries.

The War Memorial in Spennymoor is inscribed with the names of 360 servicemen who lost their lives in the First World War, 123 lost in the Second World War, and 1 serviceman lost in the conflict in Afghanistan.
