Snableazes

Snableazes is a farm in Northumberland, located about 2 miles north-east of Alnwick. Whellan's directory of 1855 lists Snableazes twice (first under the township of Denwick and the farmer as Thomas Weddrington[1] , second under Longhougton Township and the farmer as Thomas Weatherburn[2]). Today, the farm is at the southern part of Longhoughton Civil Parish. South-east of the farmhouse, is the former Snableazes limestone quarry and an old lime kiln (these fall within Lesbury Civil Parish)[3,4]. Snableazes Range is a shooting range located in a disused quarry a short distance east of the farmhouse. Snableazes farm is part of the Northumberland Estates and joined the Farm Stewardship Scheme in 2003, implementing measures for wildlife conservation like field margins and hedgerow management. Snableazes and Ratcheugh farms are part of an initiative to revive grey partridges and other bird populations.[5]
