Shildon at War
During the First World War the Illustrated Chronicle published photographs of soldiers and sailors from Newcastle and the North East of England. These have been made available by Newcastle Libraries.
Note: at the time of the First World War, Shildon and New Shildon were separate parishes. The war memorial for New Shildon is located on Redworth Road. The war memorial for Shildon is located on Church Street.
