Appleby Railway station

  • Description

"The station scene with the Railway Touring companies 'Cumbrian Mountain Express'. This was my first rail tour from Doncaster to Carlisle and return (diesel return). The engine was LMS 6201 Princess Elizabeth. Appleby is the watering point on the line so a quick 20 minute stop was required. The signal box and semaphore signals create a good railway scene. The line to the right goes off to the old Stainemore route and the other station." Photo by Ashley Dace, 2006.
