Appleby-in-Westmorland Station : Footbridge

  • Description

"If only railway architecture had continued to be so graceful and attractive. This station is on the Settle to Carlisle line, which crosses the famous Ribblehead Viaduct. This line was threatened with closure for years on end, and many of its stations were closed. Happily the line was reprieved in 1989 and the stations along its length are now open again - every one of them featuring interesting and evocative architecture such as this. Bravo for common sense for once !" Photo by Rob Farrow, 2008.
