The Customs House, Newcastle Quayside
-
Description
"The Customs House moved from the west end of Quayside in 1766 after the Town Wall running along the riverside had been demolished. The brick building was given a new facade of stone in 1833 by Sidney Smirk (son-in-law of John Dobson). There is a Hanoverian Coat of Arms above the doorway [[2130508]]. The building is now a barristers' chambers." Photo by Andrew Curtis, 2010. -
