St John's Church, Newton Arlosh - October 2017 (1)
-
Description
"St John's Church dates from the very early 14th Century, but fell into disrepair following the dissolution of Holme Cultram Monastery in 1583. Due to the generosity of Miss Sarah Losh of Wreay (see: http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5353787 ) and a Canon Simpson, Vicar of Holm Cultram, the Church was restored in 1843 in strict conformity with the original Anglo-Norman style. The Church is open daily, a Guide Book is available and donations are welcome.
