Boer War Memorial, Manchester Square
-
Description
"This Boer War memorial was erected in 1903 and originally stood at the crossroads in the centre of the village. As traffic increased, it became a hazard and in the 1950s, it was moved to its present position in Manchester Square outside the Rose and Crown Public House. The memorial is a statue of a Fusilier in full South African kit holding a rifle (http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3193182). He is set on a stone plinth within a canopied setting with four pillars.
