Chronicle Live, 23rd June 2018. "...For years, this was a derelict old hotel which stood like an eyesore along the seafront. The former High Point Hotel, on the Promenade in Whitley Bay, was then bought by North Tyneside Council in 2014 and demolished as part of a seafront regeneration programme. Now, the site has been transformed and 14 townhouses have been constructed there...."
