    "During the Autumn term of 2016, teachers Miss Christie and Miss Pattison and the Year 6 children from Hadrian Primary School, South Shields, investigated the loss of a local pilot cutter during World War I. Supported by a Heritage Lottery Fund grant, they researched those killed in the conflict and buried or commemorated at St Aidan's and St Stephen's Church, South Shields. They were fascinated to find that their local area had been in the front line of naval warfare....."
