Old Low Light Heritage Centre

  • Description

"At the heart of North Shields Fish Quay we offer a unique experience to explore 900 years of maritime heritage. Through our changing programme of hands-on activities, workshops, exhibitions and events you can learn about the life of the folks of North Shields through the experiences of real people and the objects they used. In our Heritage Gallery find out how the River Tyne sustained not only a whole community but contributed to the economy of our region. Listen to stories from fishermen still making their living on the river. You can discover how the maritime industry has changed over the years and come face to face with some of the rivers most prominent sealife birds. Get hands on with our interactive games and let the little ones dress up in bygone costume...."
