Granary floor

  • Description

These pillars supported the floor of a granary in the Roman fort at Housesteads. It was raised not for heating as you might expect, but simply to make it harder for mice to get in. Fortunately it was a dry day, as I ended up lying flat on the ground in order to get the angle.
