Palace Green, Durham, 1968
-
Description
"Taken during a cart race that formed part of the University rag week, with some of the contestants theoretically visible beyond the barrier protecting the precious lawn, but of more interest for the buildings on the east side of the green. The Georgian building on the right is Cosin's Hall, then a university hall of residence and also shown in http://www.geograph.org.uk/search.php?i=39358709 . To its right is the northern end http://list.english-heritage.org.uk/resultsingle.aspx?uid=1310306&searchtype=mapsearch of the former almshouses shown in http://www.geograph.org.uk/search.php?i=39358759 . Left of centre on Owengate is another former almshouse http://list.english-heritage.org.uk/resultsingle.aspx?uid=1322865&searchtype=mapsearch . On the extreme left is University College Master's House." Photo by Derek Harper, 1968. -
