Randolph Coke & Chemical Co Ltd, Evenwood

  • Description

"This was a late night shot on a tripod and I've tweaked it considerably. This is the coke oven battery from the pushing side. The device in the distance travels along the broad gauge railway and pushes the red hot coke out into the waiting car on the opposite side of the battery (q.v.). This works was demolished c1984-5 and was flat when I visited c1986." Photo by Chris Allen, 1983.
