    "The Metro Station was built 1978-80 as part of the first phase of the Tyneside Rapid Transit System. Public art works line the walls below ground and stand in the open courtyard at the rear. The combined arch and six attendant pinnacles called 'Garden Front' are by Raf Fulcher (1978). They are currently under repair [[490602]]" Photo by Andrew Curtis, 2013.
