Description
"Medieval settlement is documented at Shilford from 1296 when there were two taxpayers. It was described as a hamlet in 1318 and was devastated by the Scots in 1346. In the 16th and 17th centuries only a single tenement is listed at Shilford, now there are two farms called High and Low Shilford. It is thought most likely that the medieval settlement was situated at Low Shilford...." -
