Woodhouses Bastle

  • Description

"Bastles, such as this one at Woodhouses, were a poor man's tower and barn in one. Here it can be seen along with a small cow house. This Bastle is dated 1602 with initials of William Potte over the lower doorway. It was restored 1992-94 and is open to the public." Photo by Matthew Hatton, 2003.
