Former warehouse, Stowell Street
-
Description
"Built for the Co-operative Wholesale Society in 1908. Now used by the Chinese community in Stowell Street. High on the gable is an elaborately carved wheat-sheaf, spade and sickle and the motto 'Labour and Wait'. The date, and carvings of fruit and flowers, as befits a fresh produce warehouse, can be seen lower down." Photo by Andrew Curtis, 2010. -
