Buckton Farm

  • Description

"Alongside the A1. Buckton features in the old rhyme which tells of the difficulties of farmers way back in the days of Border skirmishes and the iron rule of the Church (administered from Lindisfarne): "From Goswick we've geese, from Cheswick we've cheese - From Buckton we've venison in store; From Swinhope we've bacon, but the Scots have it taken - And the Prior is begging for more.""
