Tees Newport Bridge

  • Description

"The bridge was opened in 1934, and could be raised up to 120 feet. With the decline in shipping and the construction of the Tees Barrage a short distance upstream, the bridge was sealed in 1990. The riverside path between Middlesbrough and Stockton, on the south bank of the Tees, forms part of National Cycle Network route 1." Photo by Malc McDonald, 2005.
